Windows 7 RTM Dodges Critical 0-Day

win7_boxMicrosoft has confirmed that a zero-day vulnerability in Server Message Block (SMB) could allow remote code execution in the event of successful attacks. Different grades of Windows are affected, the company reported, however, this is not the case with Windows 7 RTM Build 6.1.7600.16385, or the golden Windows Server 2008 R2. However, Microsoft said that they had detected no specific targeting to the SMB 2.0 security flaw and was not aware of the impact of customers.

Really important stuff to read first

The patches are only for the Windows XP operating system. You must install Service Pack 3 and the 2008 updates first for several patch. Optional updates, drivers, hotfixes and critical releases for Internet Explorer, Media Player, Office or other Microsoft products are not included here and must be downloaded separately.
